Chimp, Anyone??
Just when you thought this blog couldn't get any more naff...
Most people, vegetarians excluded, eat the meat of a wide range of animals, for example, cow, pig, chicken, rabbit, duck, venison etc - the list goes on (heck, even more obscure animals like kangaroo, crocodile or octopus).
But one thing that was puzzling me was how come you don't hear about people eating animals like bear, hippo, or chimp, to name but a few?
Is bear meat toxic to humans? What about hippo? Well, I suppose eating chimp is almost like cannabalism, so let's not go there.
But it gets you thinking, doesn't it? Or does it?

I've eaten bear, reindeer and moose. Tastes not much different from normal meat, except the price tag is mucho expensivo.
I at least know that some Amazon tribesmen eat monkeys, as I saw a nature documentary whereby a tribesman despatched an unfortunate simian with pinpoint accuracy, by means of a blowpipe/poison dart, before carrying off the carcass.
I suppose the more common meats come from animals which are easily domesticated (e.g. cows, sheep), and some meats e.g. bear are less common as the bear cannot easily be farmed for its flesh.
heard of the amazon guys. the monkeys are not killed just paralyzed then killed n eaten. I am not a great meat eater but found a mongolian restaurant in Glasgow where i tried, ostrich, kangaroo, shark and venison. shark a bit too chewy 4 me though. I think people should eat rat and rabbit more this country has too many. But we prefer to just poison them. Food 4 thought?
